In this class students will learn about various forms of writing and work together to create fun and funny examples of each one, which will be shared via email after each class.  (ages 7-11)

In this class we will work together to complete the movies shot a the Burton Center January through March of this year.  Students will learn to use Windows Movie Maker editing software to edit, add titles, music, narration, sound effects and more.

TOTE BAG SUPPLIES:  

  • 2 pieces of fabric 6" x 6" 
  • 1 piece of fabric 2" x 24"
  • 2 pieces of ribbon 9" long
  • hot glue & glue gun or needle and thread
  • Scissors for cutting fabric.  
  • Flat table or work space.

  • cardboard measuring approximately 6" x 24" or longer
  • Scissors for cutting fabric.

  • a shoe box or other small box
  • additional cardboard for chair sides and back
  • 1 yard of fabric for chair
  • 1 yard of padding (optional)
  • small fabric scraps for pillows
  • Scissors for cutting fabric and cardboard  
  • hot glue gun and glue
  • ruler and pencil
  • Flat table or work space.

Global Creative Writing: Exploring Expressive Styles from All Continents

 Tuesdays 1-2:30 pm  April 7-May 12  grades 5-9 

 This class will be offered through LEAF Schools & Streets at:

Each week we will explore a writing tradition from a different continent, learning about the art form and its origin, and then creating collaboratively in that form.  Additionally, students my create their own compositions to submit via email.  Poetry, stories and songs will be shared after class in an online journal.

SHADOW PUPPETS

MONDAYS IN MAY - May 4, 11, 18, 25  10-11:30 am & 5-6:30 pm

In this class students will learn how to create shadow puppets and a shadow puppet theater, as well as watch shadow puppet plays and learn the elements of creating their own!
